Off and Running

I am combining my passion for social justice with running and the desire to promote literacy in countries where access to books is a real challenge. Through the amazing work of OneWorld School House Foundation, there is also a possibility to promote the resurgence of the French language in former French colonies in the Caribbean.
Earlier this year, OneWorld School House facilitated the distribution of over a tonne – literally – of French resources to Dernière Rivière School in St Lucia collected and donated by l’école élémentaire catholique St-René-Goupil and its family of schools.
I am asking my friends, family and colleagues for their support to promote and support the amazing work of OneWorld School House Foundation. I will be meeting Alliance Française as well as educators in St Lucia to find new ways to create friendships between students in St Lucia and students who attend St-René-Goupil and other French Catholic schools of le CSCMonAvenir. Despite the distance between our two countries, stories in French and English can link readers and build lasting friendships.

My Goal

I’m looking forward to the challenge of running 4 marathons in 4 days– and meeting the runners, organisers, volunteers and the students and educators in St Lucia. If I reach my fundraising goal of $4,000 I pledge to run a minimum of 25 kms per day for 4 days for a grand total of 100 kms. Please help me reach my goal!

International Literacy Day 2016
Soufrière Primary ran a relay on September 8, 2016 to celebrate reading. The event was filmed as part of the "run-up" to our first Find 52 Thousand campaign in 2017. Over 1,000 students from grade 3-12 ran 1 mile segments right around St. Lucia.

Find 52 started in Grenada
52 miles gets you right around this small, beautiful island. Companions on the second day included: Philip Clift from Petite Anse Hotel, an enthusiastic young boy and one very fit dog named "Dodgy".

Olympian Jake Holden and Richard Clewes survey the route for Find 52 in January 2016. The duo were joined by St. Lucian Olympic athletes and members of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force.

Fundraising is an Uphill Battle
In January 2015, I ran 52 miles in Grenada. Let me dismiss athletic motives; it so happens 52 miles gets you all the way around the island. I did it for money – $40,000 – all of which went to OneWorld Schoolhouse. CTV National news ran the story on May 25, 2015 and so began Find 52.
