Find 52: Build Community

Find 52: Build Community starts with local Guelph-area businesses. Your participation will signal the value of engagement to other business groups and will help raise $10,000. Cafes, restaurants, hair salons, contractors, plumbers or local fitness gyms. We realize our tools are different than yours, but we all share similar values – we both want to enhance the communities we serve. That’s how we build community — by caring and working together.

OneWorld Schoolhouse Foundation, a Guelph-based CRA registered charity, wants to build better communities. With books. And your business can be part of this really great story.

A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business.

Sponsorship levels

We are currently fundraising and gathering Books for Bahamas to help rebuild school libraries after the devastating effects of Hurricane Dorian.

We hope you’ll consider one of these sponsorship levels:

1 set of children’s books = $180
3 sets for a small school = $540
6 sets for a big school = $1080
Gold Star Community Builder sponsorship = $1200 to $2999
Platinum Community Builder sponsorship = $3000 and up.

Gold Star and Platinum Community Builders will have a custom-labeled relay baton carried by student runners. Our next National Road to Reading Marathon Relay Race is scheduled to take place in St. Lucia in March 2021.

Go the distance with your employees

Your employees can also show their support. Have them Toss a Toonie’ into a jar and sign their names on specially-designed pledge sheets that are available for download. These pages will be curled and inserted into your company’s custom-labeled baton.

The pledge sheet is available for download at the bottom of this page.

Find 52 started in Grenada
52 miles gets you right around this small, beautiful island. Companions on the second day included: Philip Clift from Petite Anse Hotel, an enthusiastic young boy and one very fit dog named "Dodgy".

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page.

International Literacy Day 2016
Soufrière Primary ran a relay on September 8, 2016 to celebrate reading. The event was filmed as part of the "run-up" to our first Find 52 Thousand campaign in 2017. Over 1,000 students from grade 3-12 ran 1 mile segments right around St. Lucia.

Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.

Fundraising is an Uphill Battle
In January 2015, I ran 52 miles in Grenada. Let me dismiss athletic motives; it so happens 52 miles gets you all the way around the island. I did it for money – $40,000 – all of which went to OneWorld Schoolhouse. CTV National news ran the story on May 25, 2015 and so began Find 52.

All men should strive to learn before they die what they are running from, and to, and why.

Finding the way for Fundraising
Olympian Jake Holden and Richard Clewes survey the route for Find 52 in January 2016. The duo were joined by St. Lucian Olympic athletes and members of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force.

A road is a song, a poem, a movie, an adventure. It's hope and optimism, and inquisitiveness.
